Absurdities in Naming, or, American Education and the Push for Establishing Identity and Self-Esteem in Teens

Randomly, I got to thinking about junior high and the first day of school.
Back then (and up through high school), the first day always consisted of getting a class schedule and reporting to said classes in order. Once in class, you would fill out a personal information sheet with name, address, class schedule and the [...]

Sweet

In Repair

I’m not sure what it is about Home Depot that I enjoy so much. I’m not in any way particularly handy, but I do love a trip to the Depot, even more than trips to record stores. Maybe it’s the scent of toxic chemicals and lumber mixing together that releases that “building smell,” much in [...]

Status Update

Between work, school, my promotion to head usher at church, and an overall sense of apathy, I haven’t had much time to blog lately. You may have noticed or not, but whatever. Add to that, our wireless router going down (unfortunately, not in a blaze of glory) and I’ve got limited internet access at home [...]

Disturbances.

What is it about the human condition that incites voyeurism? We all have a piece of us who just has to know what’s going on, especially if someone could be hurt. Usually, it’s not because we want to help but only to see what kind of damage was wreaked.

A Side of Fire

I’ll be posting personal accounts of my life every friday over at Odd. Ln.  You can find today’s post here.  Comment here or comment there or not at all.  Enjoy your day, more importantly.

Passage: A Game Unlike Any Other

Passage is a game that tells the story of a persons lifetime in five minutes exactly. I can’t really say much more about it, except that it takes exactly five minutes to play and should be played by everyone. Download it, play it, then read the creators note here. He reccomends playing [...]

Sumptuously Late

Late, tardy, absenteeism, whatever your word may be, I have been out of comission for this week.  So sad knowing my devoted readers have missed out on a weeks worth of Aarony goodness.  Not that sorry, though.
Halo 3 is full of idiots.  Not just the plain kind of idiots that you throw the finger to [...]

My Hospital Year — A Thanks Giving

Given that Thanksgiving is tomorrow and everything that’s gone on with my surgery, I’ve decided to write a testimonial. It’s a reflection of the past year and the way it’s affected my relationship with myself, my wife, my family, our church, and God. It’s probably something that belongs on Blue Turtleshell, Go! but seeing as [...]
