But that’s the thing. I love Nintendo’s franchises.
I love Zelda. But it has sucked lately. They hit their pinnacle with Ocarina and it seems like every Zelda title since then has been trying to touch it’s greatness, with the possible exception of Wind Waker, but it’s basically same game play.
Metroid Prime wowed me when I first played it and continued to wow me ’til the very end. It’s sequels, not so much.
Nintendo hasn’t been able to make a decent Star Fox game since Star Fox 64.
Also, Steph hates the Wii as well. She can never get the Wiimote to do what she wants. The only game she likes so far has been Smash Bros. because she can use the Wavebird to play it. She says Wii Sports is okay, but that’s only because it doesn’t require precision control methods.
I think this video summarizes it best. Be very very warned though. It is extremely NSFW. Did you catch that? N-S-F-W! Do not play unless you wish to be assaulted by loads of cursing and vulgarity. You’ve been warned. But in case you forgot: NSFW!!!
See, now that I can understand. TP was definitely not the highly rated Zelda game I thought it was going to be. I, for one, preferred WindWaker.
To be fair, can StarFox Adventures really be called a true StarFox game?
But the point is, the both of you love to game and excel at it. For those of us who don’t, the Wii offers us the option of learning as you go with no other control schemes to prefer it to.
And yes, I sure as heck prefer the Wavebird over the Wii-mote for some functions (Brawl especially) but that’s not true for everything.
And I much more prefer being able to pick up and play a title like Carnival Games with my wife or the pastor’s kids than I do sitting through a 50 hour title by myself or personally giving them a 50 hour tutorial on the specific button mapping of each game.
But as I told LorY before the Wii even came out, the PS2 was my solo console and the Cube was my multiplayer console — a machine that supported software that I would actually enjoy playing with another human being or plural (in person!) and I really think the Wii is just the natural progression of that. So that suits me fine.
