Picture of Jesus

I’ve known about Ben Harper for quite some time now, having bought Diamonds on the Inside after hearing his cover of “Strawberry Fields Forever” on the soundtrack for I Am Sam. In fact, I have several CDs of his now. In addition to that, it was the instrumental off Both Sides of the Gun that my wife and I “danced” (like twin peg-legged sailors at a junior high school dance) to at our wedding.

But I never went back to Diamonds even though for a solid few months after I bought it it was a favorite of mine. Not for any particular reason but because the CD player in my car eventually died and for whatever reason, it wouldn’t copy into my laptop. So it lay forgotten. Until September when I went home and brought it back with me, along with twenty or so other CDs that were favorites of mine.

But here it is February, and I never did go back to Diamonds. Until today. And that’s when I fell completely in love with this song. It soothes and calms the soul for whatever reason and I just wanted to share it with you guys today.

Completely unrelated: Aaron, how are you liking the parent categories I created so far? Intuitive? Counter? Suggestions?

  1. Crap, the link is blocked here at work, but I have one of his cd’s. He is really good.

  2. I think I liked it better when everything was arranged alphabetically, but that’s just me.

I was only slightly, and let me stress slightly, befuddled when I loaded up the clog yesterday and saw them. Befuddlement of that sort rarely takes me by surprise, but I am already recovered and intent on springing my retaliation when these “parent categories” turn their backs by using them in an extreme and intense manner. Can you feel it?

As Phoenix Wright would say, “Take that!(categories)”.

  3. The original plan was to only create the parent category for authors, making it easier for Rene to label his posts. :)

    Then I got carried away.

  4. Yeah… The categories thing is kind of confusing. ( I just posted for the first time since the change.) Maybe just have the the authors and leave the rest alphabetical… I think it’s easier to find what you want in that kind of list than figure out what topic the category you’re looking for would be under. Just my two cents.
