This is probably one of the more borderline shameful/not-so-shameful songs, depending on who you ask. Nevertheless, I sometimes feel ashamed for liking it simply because it entrenches me further in the world of emo.
While the intro is a forgettable tribute to 50’s era rock, the actual song that follows is something that gripped me from the very start. The opening line itself is gripping and painfully honest. I love the lyrics and the quackingly spare guitar solos. Even if it’s a little weird that he’s writing about his grandparent’s story of survival in the Warsaw ghetto, I still find this a compelling and excellent song.
